高校２年生の課題研究の「外来生物チーム」が、8月10日(月)に北九州市響灘ビオトープにおいて、ジャンボタニシの採集活動を行いました。ジャンボタニシは、イネの若苗を食害し、農家に大きな被害を与えている外来生物です。外来生物チームの生徒たちは、厄介者のジャンボタニシを、養殖魚のえさなどに有効利用することで、SDGs「15.陸の豊かさも守ろう」に貢献できるのではないかと考え、活動しています。

On August 10, the Invasive Alien Species Team, 2nd-grade high school students, conducted a gathering activity of jumbo snails (golden apple snails) at the Hibiki-nada Biotope in Kitakyushu. Jumbo snails are alien organisms that damage young rice seedlings and cause serious damage to farmers. The students are working on the idea that we can contribute to SDGs goal 15 “LIFE ON LAND” by effectively utilizing the troublesome jumbo snail for food for animals such as cultured fish.
